The outbreak of HMPV (human metapneumo virus) in China and reports of a rise in cases in Malaysia have raised fears of a potential "health emergency" or pandemic.
On Monday, two cases of HMPV Virus were also confirmed in a hospital in Karnataka.
How dangerous is this HMPV virus ?
There is growing concern about HMPV Virus in China and people may get a disease like Covid-19 ?

Actually this virus is very old and it is not newly identified, earlier this type of virus was also seen around the year 2000.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – this virus starts with simple symptoms like cold and cough and this disease often occurs in the winter season, so there is no need to worry too much about it.
National Institute of Health told some special preventive measures to HMPV Virus :-
- Novelty: unknown to the medical profession
- Minimal population immunity: persistent absence of specific IgG antibodies
- Explosiveness: determined mainly by factors related to population size or density and type of transmission, for example vector population
- Rapid disease spread: type and speed of human transmission
- Wide geographical spread: social contact of populations, widespread shared sources
- Infectiousness: ability of the pathogen to cause disease (minimal infectious dose)
- Contagiousness: proportion of completely asymptomatic cases, super-spreaders and obvious and pathognomonic disease markers
- Severity: need for hospitalisation, artificial ventilation or intensive rehydration; chronicity or death
Its impact on the Indian market
In the Indian market, stocks can be emptied from small retailers for a few days or by creating some panic because small investors get scared very quickly due to such problems and they take their portfolio and send the stock away very fast.
